We are pleased to announce the schedule for the upcoming Journeyman training courses.
 
Below is a detailed guide of the courses offered including descriptions, schedules, and locations.  Please call Apprentice Training at 215-567-6407 and speak with either Ashley Barrett or Betsy Mulgrew to enroll at the Philadelphia Campus or Carmen Spann at 610-489-6399 to enroll at the Collegeville Campus. All classes are available to all members regardless of jurisdiction or division.

NEC Code Review
Instructors: Iggy Fletcher and Quinton Johnson

This course will focus on the 2017 NEC, covering codeology, code calculations, ampacity calculations and box fill requirements, voltage drop considerations, motor calculations and load requirements. All of these are essential for furthering your NEC knowledge.

Schedule:
Class will be held every Monday for eight weeks
Dates: February 26, March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15.
Location: 1719 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia.
Class Time: 4:00PM to 7:00PM
 
Cable Terminations and Splicing Class
Instructor: Dominick Verrecchio

This class offers theory and hands-on practice in cable terminations and splicing, and will cover cable construction, termination kits, and techniques. We will also be discussing the new certification from the NCSCB.

Schedule: Dates based on member interest and availability.
Location: 1719 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia.
 
 
EVCS (Electric Vehicle Charging Systems)
Instructor: Iggy Fletcher

This course serves as an instructional primer for the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) Certification Exam. The course introduces charging products and associated equipment on the market today. Electrical Workers completing this training go to work with the ability to implement best practices in areas such as charging station equipment, infrastructure site assessment, load calculation, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Through an agreement with EVITP, their certification exam is provided at the conclusion of this course.

Schedule:
Class will be held every Tuesday and Thursday for 3 weeks
Dates:  March 5th, 7th, 12th, 14th, 19th and 21st
Location: 1719 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia.
Class Time: 4:00PM to 7:00PM
 
70E Electrical Safe Practices Class
Instructor: James Dollard

This course will focus on NFPA 70E standards for electrical safety in the workplace to effectively mitigate hazards.

Schedule:
Date: Saturday, April 13th – 8 hours.
Location: 1719 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia.
Class Time: Registration at 7:00AM – Class begins at 7:30AM
 
Introduction to Estimating
Instructor: Luke Bialy

This course covers estimating fundamentals vital for job acquisition and profitability, including takeoff exercises and a bid simulation.

Schedule:
Dates: Saturday, March 9th and March 16th. Two 8-hour days.
Location: 1719 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia.
Class Time: 8:00AM-4:00PM
  
Introduction to Blueprint Technology
Instructor: Luke Bialy

This class will introduce blueprint technology used by project managers and foreman in the field. It will cover technologies to streamline blueprint reading, the creation of as-builts, and access to job-specific documentation. This leads to future classes on BIM and Trimble.

Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Instructor: Luke Bialy

This class will cover the digital process for creating and managing information on a construction project's lifecycle. This introductory class gauges interest for future comprehensive courses.

Schedule: April 23rd
Location: 1719 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia.
Class Time: 4:00PM to 6:00PM (2 hours before the union meeting)
 
Trimble
Instructor: Luke Bialy

This class will provide specialized training in advanced technology for precision in construction, surveying, and geospatial projects. This introduction seeks to gauge interest for a full course.

Schedule: May 28th
Location: 1719 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia.
Class Time: 4:00PM to 6:00PM (2 hours before the union meeting)
 
 
Sound and Communications Classes
 
Fiber Optics Class
Instructor: Tom Noreski

These classes will cover the fundamentals of fiber optics, including testing, terminating, and troubleshooting, over two evenings (Tuesday’s) and one Saturday.  These classes will aim to provide 16 BICSI CEU’s.

Schedule: Tuesday evening April 2nd and April 9th and one hands-on session on Saturday, April 6.

Avixa Online Training for the AV Industry
Classes include Quick Start to the AV Industry, Essentials of AV including audio, video and networking, CTS prep courses, AV Math, CTS sample questions, and more.

Requirements: 2017 codebook and a laptop.

Instrumentation and Control EPRI Exam Course
Instructor: Bo Schlipf

This class will cover the fundamentals of instrumentation and control curriculum.
Schedule: Monday and Thursday evenings beginning April 8th thru May 9th
Class Time:   5:00PM – 9PM
Requirements: You will need to purchaase the textbook and have a laptop.
The EPRI Part A Certification Test will be administered after the course.
